The Performance Method

The Performance Method provides a means to compare individual archery performances across many different types of archery competitions. It was developed by analyzing three years of national championship competition scores and building a model of the results in the R programming language. Details of the approach can be found in the article The Performance Method: An Improved Archer Ranking System for Determining a “Shooter of the Year”.

There is an accompanying R Shiny application for the Performance Method that shows graphs of the performance points, gives a table to look up performance points for a given score, and provides an Excel function to calculate performance points for a given archery round.
